Dr. Valerie L. Tatum

tatum-headshotDr. Tatum has an extensive background in public education. She has both site and district experience, having served as a teacher, and principal.  Her teaching and leadership experience encompasses high school, middle school and elementary school levels.  For the past couple years, she has served as principal.  However, this is her first year as superintendent of Covenant Keepers College Preparatory Charter School. It currently serves 230 students in grades 6-12 grades.

Prior to serving as superintendent of the charter school, Dr. Tatum worked with the Little Rock School District in many areas of education. In addition to working with the LRSD, I have work as an adjunct professor and mathematic specialist.

Dr. Tatum has earned her Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock and Master’s Degree from University of Central Arkansas in Conway, Arkansas. Later returning to receive a Doctorate from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock, her dissertation focused on Woman in Administration and Understanding Barriers and Constraints. She has presented at a number of conferences and now present at charter school conference/seminars.

Dr. Tatum enjoys reading, gardening and landscaping, and some traveling.  She also has a grandson who is truly the “apple-of-her-eye” Carron. Dr. Tatum continues to be impressed with passion, vision, leadership, and personal touch of the people and students who attend “The Covenant”.  Her most prized quote is…”Remember, “Nothing we Do for CHILDREN is Ever Wasted.
