Covenant Charter School Board met in a regular meeting on March 15^th, 2012 in the CKCS board room.  Members present were Ms. Townsend, Mrs. Dalu, Mr. Buckley, and Mr. Jones.  No members were absent.  Others present were Dr. Tatum, Mrs. Clancy, Ms. Porchia, Mr. Hamilton, and Mrs. Hill.  The meeting was called to order at 5:39 p.m.  Minutes were read and approved with the addendum of the rent cost being $13,125 monthly instead of $13,000.

Old Business

• Absenteeism policy has been put into place.  Everyone was giving a copy of the new policy along with their checks.  There has been a reduction in the amount of absences after holidays.
• Audit is projected to be ready no later than March 31^st, 2012.

New Business

• The board met in Executive session at the last board meeting and voted to appoint Mr. Jones to the board.  He officially accepted his position as a board member.

Directors Report-Tatum

• ACT testing is coming up on April 3^rd for students in the eleventh grade.  Some of the high school students will also be going on college tours during the month of April/May.
• Budget has been worked on for the last month.  Mr. Hamilton, Mr. Sanford, and Doug Brown has worked on cleaning up the overall budget.  All petty cash receipts have also been added up.
• Next year child nutrition will receive extra money from reduced students in addition to the students who receive free lunch.

Principals Report-Porchia

• Preparing for college tours, ACT, and benchmark.  Charter School office came by to visit the school on Tuesday, March 13^th.

Academic Administrator- Clancy

• Eleventh grade literacy test was last week.  Students were very focused.
• There will be a series of test beginning April and lasting through May.  All students will have some type of test to take rather it be Benchmarks, or EOC’s
• Working on getting the kids motivated for their upcoming test.

Financial Report-Hamilton

• Mr. Hamilton gave handouts of the current financial reports.
• Audit is going food.  Petty cash on balance sheet is going to have to be cleared up.  Ms. Townsend stated that the board had already gave their input on the best way to resolve this issue.  Mr. Hamilton is reviewing best steps to take along with the auditors.
  • Auditors are also running test on American Express payments.
  • Questions about the loans giving to the school by Dr. Tatum are also being reviewed.
  • W-2’s have been sent in and a abatement has been requested from the IRS on the penalty.

With there being no further business the meeting was adjourned at 6:28 p.m.
